Guest Speaker Authorization Form

This form is for teachers and community members to get authorization for guest speakers at our school. The current guest policy is as follows:

All members of our faculty, administration and board of trustees may invite a guest to speak on campus. Prior to speaking on campus, the inviter must submit a written request to the principal for approval. This written request should include the name of the individual to be invited, to whom the guest will speak, some tentative dates for the guest to speak, and a brief synopsis on how the guest aligns with the school’s focus of arts, agriculture and the environment.

Should the guest’s audience be for only one grade or one classroom, the principal may approve the guest. Should the guest’s audience be for more than one grade, the principal shall present the request to the board with his or her recommendation, for board vote.

The principal shall work with the board’s External Affairs committee to maximize the promotion and strategic value of the event.

Once the invitation has received the necessary approvals, the invitation may be sent out. The inviter will inform the principal if the invitation has been accepted, and confirm the date with the principal. Once the date is confirmed, and no later than 48 hours before the invited guest is expected to appear on campus, parents of the classrooms that the guest will be speaking to shall be notified.

    Invited Guest Conduct Policy

At CHCS, our mission is to inspire children to the highest levels of academic achievement through a rigorous curriculum that integrates the wonders of the natural world. Invited Guests are a critical part of our educational experience at CHCS. We ask of all our guests at CHCS to:

    1. Be a positive, constructive force for our children.
    2. Focus on our core mission of inspiring children with the natural world.
    3. Follow the classroom(s) teacher(s) in instructing children. Remember that when you leave, there’s a teacher that will follow up with them about your discussion.

We respectfully ask that guests at CHCS:
    1. Refrain from giving any child any gift without prior approval from the principal
    2. Use professional, courteous language
    3. Respect the allotted time for your talk. There are only so many instructional hours we have in a day, and we have to maximize all of them.

CHCS is an alcohol free, weapons free and smoke free campus.
